I work on the web.

This is me, I work on the web.

I'm a freelancer working under the moniker of MadPilot Productions - my major client at the moment is Perth media startup PerthNorg, but I have at some point worked for just about everyone in Perth. I have built and am always maintaining my time tracking system - 88 Miles (http://www.88miles.net)

I'm predominantly a developer, working in back end systems using Ruby on Rails, PHP and occasionally ASP.NET (unless I can avoid it). I can also be found hacking away at front-end stuff from time to time producing beautiful HTML, elegant CSS and functional JavaScript (I'm a bit of a web-standard Nazi).

I'm the events co-ordinator for the Australian Web Industry Association organising a number of events including the WA Web Awards, Port80 Mini-talks and BarCamp Perth. I've given a number of talks locally mainly about JavaScript and Rails.

I'm always busy (just like the rest of the web) but I don't mind as the web is what I do, is my passion and I wouldn't be doing anything else. What excites me about it? The fact that you can converse with people that you have never met that live on the other side of the world as if they are here. Information isn't in little walled gardens any more - you can find it in seconds. This means you can spend less time finding and more time understanding.
