This is me. I work on the web.
I not only work on the web, I sometimes feel like I completely live on it: so it's only natural that I feel so strongly about keeping it free from bad usability, bad accessiblity and general ugliness!
I've worked on building the web for the past 9 years, the last 12 months in my own business with my wonderful partner Dave, doing front end and back end code as well as all the usual things that small business owners take care of - in fact, everything *except* design.
One thing I've found with running my own show is that even though their budgets are smaller, I really like working with small operations: getting to meet varied and interesting people who are out there doing their own thing too, and work on projects that can make a real difference to their businesses.
Geeking out with like-minded people is really important, so I rarely miss a Port80 meetup and am on the AWIA and WA Web Awards committees. Hanging out in Sydney with the rest of the Perth Posse during Web Directions is one of the geekiest and coolest things that happens all year.
This post is for the "I work on the web" meme, brought to you by the wonderful Lisa: this was an awesome idea. Check out the other web workers.
